I'm going to use this thread to post general animation tests that I do. They may or may not be part of any specific project.
This first one is for a project that someone wanted, then walked away from. It was going to be for a story that was narrated. I had a feeling the guy was a flake so I only animated 3 pages because I didn't want to waste time with him until he showed me more commitment. Glad I did that.

I'm planning on working on some Rayfire tests so I thought I would post a few that I did a few months ago.

Here is a test render of a ball (made of stone of some type) smashing onto the floor. Rendering was created using 3dsMax and the Rayfire 1.5 plug-in

A bit curious. On average, with each clip being roughly three to six seconds, how much time goes into making them?

Well not including the time it takes to learn or refresh myself on the software these scenes can usually be completed in about an hour or two. Most of that time is is the time it takes for the computer to render the scene. Now with iray that time can be reduced because you don't need multiple passes for the shadows etc.
That's for these scenes that I have posted here. The times can vary greatly depending on what you're trying to achieve. The more complex the scene, the longer it would take to set up the scene itself and more time to render it.

Another test rendering of the flaming projectile. I lightened the ambient color of the smoke to a light gray and increased the smoke opacity to 3.48 so the smoke would show up better against the black background.

short animation to test the smoke from fume fx. The test was to see how an object (the chimney) is set to constrain the path of the smoke.
